Our volunteer organization, and ABNC at large, strives to engage everyone in our community and beyond, to celebrate our local habitats and wildlife, and to deepen understanding of their imperiled nature. In order for us to be a site of positive enriching experiences and welcoming of everyone, we must be proactive in that effort. That is why this year ABNC will be observing Latino Conservation Week. Volunteers and staff have come together to develop a series of events and activities aimed at connecting with Latinos. Our two-fold mission aims to connect them with the outdoors and their role as stewards in conserving our native habitats, as well as connecting people with one another.

Latino Conservation Week is an initiative of Hispanic Access, a national nonprofit that works to connect Latinos with partners and opportunities to create a more equitable society.

Here is the line up:
  • July 17th - Dia de Conservaci√≥n Ecologica / Day of Conservation with the Stewardship Dept.
  • July 21st - ¬°Descubre tu bayou! Caminata Nocturna / Discover your Bayou Night Hike with Elisa
  • July 21st - Plantando para nuestra pradera / Planting for our prairie: Seed Balls and Potting with Jim Duran
  • July 24th - Native Plant Discovery with Robin, Meade, and Angelica (Free plants to take home)
